Pumpkin's Rabbitry

We are a small family run rabbitry located in Stanwood, Michigan, which is about 15 minutes south of Big Rapids.  

We will happily allow visitors to our rabbitry, by appointment only.

My Rabbit Story & All About Our Rabbity

Hello!  My name is Patsy Lane, as a young child I raised Silver Martin rabbits for 4-H.  Although it was a lot of work for a ten year old, I found raising rabbits a pleasure.  So later on when my own daughter expressed an interest in joining 4-H and raising rabbits I jumped at the chance to help her along.  I now, along with my family, have a small family run rabbitry.  We prefer to keep our rabbitry small to ensure we can provide the best show quality rabbits we can, whether they are used for show, meat, or just a wonderful pet!  We currently have sixteen holes, four large two hole cages, and four 24 X24 one hole cages. and four 36 X 30 one hole cages for our Does about to kindle and share space with her kits.  We keep a strict 16 hole maxium for our rabbitry.  All of our breeding stock is of show quality, as expressed by the ARBA Standard of Perfection book specifications.  Because we are a new rabbitry, founded in early August of 2012, we have not been able to show our rabbits at our county fair, but we intend to this year.

Health and Care of Our Rabbits

Our rabbits are groomed regularly.  We have a special grooming table to aid in grooming, complete with all of the right brushes.  Our rabbits nails are clipped once a month, or when needed.  They are kept in very good health, and kits are played with as often as possible by my three young children and also visiting 4-H children, as well as myself and my husband.  During the summer, we keep fans blowing in the rabbits' general direction, as well as frozen water bottles in each of their cages to help keep them cool.  During the winter, we put blankets over the rabbit's cages on very cold nights and days.  This keeps the heat in their cage, and keeps them warm.  All of our rabbits are housed in a small, very clean, bunny barn with windows/doors on each side for proper ventalation.
